A built-in sensor detects when your pet approaches and starts the water flow automatically. When your pet walks away, the flow stops after a few seconds. The sensor activates within around 5 feet, so water is ready when your pet is, and it isn't running when no one's around.
We recommend replacing the filter every 2 weeks for the freshest-tasting water. If your pet drinks heavily or your tap water is hard, you may want to swap it a little sooner. Replacement filters are available in convenient multi-packs, so you're never caught without one.
The tank holds about up to 5 liters which is typically enough for about 9 days for a cat or small dog. Larger dogs or multi-pet homes will go through it faster, so check the water level regularly at first until you learn your pet's routine.
It comes apart in seconds with no tools needed. The stainless steel parts are easy to wipe down, and [top-rack dishwasher safe / hand wash with warm water and mild soap]. We recommend a quick rinse every few days and a deeper clean weekly to keep the water fresh.
